Parliamentarian Navin Dissanayake said yesterday that both he and Minister C.B. Ratnayake were not provided with funds and resources on par with other Ministers of the Nuwara Eliya District.
Speaking at a press briefing at Sirikotha, the UNP Headquarters subsequent to his joining the party, Dissanayake said that he had asked the government to at least provide Minister C.B. Ratnayake the necessary resources to serve the people. It was not done so, he added.
Dissanayake also said that this dissatisfaction is evident in a majority of government members of parliament, who are still reluctant to crossover to the opposition due to different reasons. He said that he will be supporting common candidate Maithripala Sirisena in the presidential election.
Meanwhile, Dissanayake also asked the President to reveal any files on him that could be in his the president’s possession within 24 hours adding that he does not know what files there can be.
Navin Dissanayake, a son of late Gamini Dissanayake, resigned from his Cabinet post a few days ago and officially announced his joining to the UNP Monday.
