UPFA Western Provincial Council Member Hirunika Premachandra has told that she has still not decided to support the common candidate of the opposition but the leadership should make sure that the senior members do not leave the party.
Speaking to the BBC Sandeshaya, she has added that many senior leaders are disappointed at the manner in which they have been treated in the past.
She also said that as a member of the UPFA, she will support president Mahinda Rajapaksa in the next presidential election.
However, she has maintained that both Maithripala Sirisena and Rajitha Senaratne are exemplary characters, adding that they were among the few who helped her even before she came to politics, especially after her father was killed.
Meanwhile, she also commented on an attempt by certain opposition members to take power of the Western PRovincial Council appointing Udaya Gammanpila as Chief Minister, stating that she has difference of opinion on certain matters with him. Even if he becomes CM, Gammanpila will not be able to do dramatic changes in the council, she said.
Premachandra came first in the preferential votes in Colombo District at the Western Provincial Council Elections last March which Gammanpila was second.
