The UNP Professionals’ Alliance on yesterday reiterated that the opposition candidate at an upcoming Presidential election, must be Ranil Wickremesinghe, contesting under the elephant symbol.

Speaking at a media briefing, the Convenor of the Alliance Ananda Palitha said that United Bikkhu Front leader Girambe Ananda Thera and UNP Parliamenntarian Karu Jayasuriya have always been conspiring towards the division and fragmentation of the United National Party, so that the continuity of the present government is assured.

Karu Jayasuriya has become the person who has always worked to destroy the party and democracy in the country, Ananda Palitha said further.

Ananda Palitha also asked groups such as the National Movement for Social Justice and the Pivithuru Hetak movement and others to explain as to why they lack of trust in Ranil Wickremesinghe.
