Sri Lanka’s Export Performance: October Figures Released

Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports for October 2024 reached US$ 1,097.1 million, marking an 18.22% increase compared to October 2023, according to the Export Development Board (EDB).

The growth, based on provisional data from Sri Lanka Customs, was driven by higher earnings from Apparel & Textiles, Tea, Rubber-based products, Coconut-based products, and Spices & Concentrates.

October’s export performance also improved by 8.44% compared to September 2024. Additionally, services exports for October 2024 were estimated at US$ 323.17 million, reflecting a 19.75% increase compared to the same period last year.

Total exports for the month, combining merchandise and services, stood at US$ 1,420.27 million, an 18.57% year-on-year growth.

EDB Chairman and CEO Mangala Wijesinghe praised the export sector’s resilience and innovation, saying, “This remarkable growth demonstrates Sri Lanka’s adaptability to global market demands. I commend all stakeholders for their dedication and look forward to enhancing our export potential further.”
