To ensure the security of voters and election-related activities, nearly 90,000 officers will be deployed across the country for the 2024 general election. Police Media Spokesman, DIG Attorney Nihal Thalduwa, said that the force will include 3,200 officers from the Special Task Force (STF) and 11,000 personnel from the Sri Lankan Army, who will focus on safeguarding government buildings during the election period.

The 2024 General Election is scheduled for November 14th.
