Dr. Shafi Sihabdeen has been acquitted of all charges by the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court.

The case, which included allegations that Dr. Shafi had accumulated assets through suspicious means, conducted illegal sterilisation surgeries, and maintained links to terrorist activities, was heard today (6 November).

After reviewing the evidence, the Magistrate ruled that the case lacked sufficient grounds to proceed, ordering Dr. Shafi’s acquittal on all charges. The court also lifted the overseas travel ban previously imposed on him.
