The Department of Meteorology says, many parts of the island are likely to receive heavy rains exceeding 100 mm,

The forecast indicates that there may be showers or thunderstorms in many areas during the evening and overnight hours. Coastal areas of Western and Southern provinces along with Ampara and Batticaloa districts may also experience rain during the morning.

Heavy rainfall is expected especially in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Southern provinces and Kurunegala district.
