A bomb scare on Vistara flight UK 131 from Mumbai to Colombo today prompted emergency procedures at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), but no threat was found. The Airbus A320 Neo, carrying 96 passengers and 8 crew members, was approaching Colombo when a nonspecific bomb threat was reported to the flight captain about 10 minutes before landing.
The plane, which was scheduled to arrive at 2:51 pm, landed safely at 2:49 pm. In response to the reported threat, authorities immediately implemented emergency protocols, informing all relevant agencies and declaring an emergency at BIA. Passengers were swiftly evacuated from the aircraft as a precaution and moved to the terminal, with their safety being the top priority.
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) confirmed that standard protocols were followed, and the situation was resolved without any incidents. The authorities have assured passengers that safety and security remain their primary concern.
