The Road Development Authority (RDA) has said that the construction of the Kadawatha-Mirigama section of the Central Expressway will take approximately two and a half years to complete.
A senior RDA official revealed that work on this segment was previously halted due to issues related to International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreements under the previous government .
Discussions are planned to secure the necessary funding to resume construction. In the meantime, the Pothuhera-Rambukkana section of the expressway is currently being constructed and is expected to be completed within the next few months.
