President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed two senior advisors to oversee finance and economic affairs, said Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath during a post-Cabinet media briefing.
The appointed advisors are Duminda Hulangamuwa, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and Prof. Anil Fernando from Sri Jayawardenapura University. Both positions are honorary, with no salary or benefits attached.
Minister Herath confirmed that the appointments are in line with Article 41 (1) of the Constitution, which empowers the president to consult the Cabinet of Ministers in such decisions. The advisory roles are effective as of September 24, 2024.
