On September 25, newly appointed provincial governors will take their oaths of office in a ceremony attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

All nine governors appointed by the previous administration have resigned.

The resignations include Lalith U. Gamage (Central Province), Maheepala Herath (North Central Province), Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena (Southern Province), Senthil Thondaman (Eastern Province), Naveen Dissanayake (Sabaragamuwa Province), Anura Vidanagamage (Uva Province), P.S.M. Charles (Northern Province), Nazeer Ahamed (North Western Province), and Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke (Western Province).
