African Serval Cat Illegally Import to Sri Lanka

An African Serval Cat has been illegally imported into Sri Lanka from Moscow, Russia, via air cargo. Sri Lanka Customs Officials have launched an investigation, revealing that a resident of Kandy was responsible for bringing the animal into the country without proper authorization.

The African Serval Cat, a protected species, bears resemblance to the native Sri Lankan Fishing Cat. Despite its protected status, the African Serval Cat is in high demand as a pet in Europe and Middle Eastern countries.
