Sri Lanka Among Forbes’ Top Three Must-Visit Destinations for Summer 2024

Forbes has named Sri Lanka as one of the top three must-visit destinations for summer 2024, alongside Greece and Mauritius. Travel blogger Kathleen Peddicord highlights Sri Lanka's unique charm, comparing its blend of surf and wellness cultures to pre-boom Bali.

The island, known for its verdant highlands and stunning beaches, has become a hub for yoga, reiki, and other wellness practices, with luxury wellness centers like Kalukanda House and Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort drawing visitors. Nature enthusiasts can explore 22 national parks teeming with diverse wildlife, including elephants, otters, sloth bears, and leopards.

Adventurers may trek the 186-mile Pekoe Trail through the Central Highlands or travel by train to enjoy scenic views and cultural experiences. Coastal attractions include Mirissa Beach, celebrated for its tranquil, crystal-clear waters.

Amidst its recovery from recent crises, Sri Lanka is actively seeking more tourists, with its tourism authority investing in marketing campaigns. Peddicord said that visiting the country can significantly support the local economy, predicting a rise in its popularity.

Sri Lanka also appears on Travel + Leisure’s list of “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2024” and Condé Nast Traveller’s “The 24 Best Places to Go in 2024.”
