Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe has been elected as the acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), according to sources within the party. This decision was reached during the executive committee meeting held in Athul Kotte today.
The faction, led by former President Maithripala Sirisena, made the selection, as Sirisena remains unable to fulfill the role due to a court-issued interim injunction.
outside the SLFP headquarters at Darley Road, tension flared as police obstructed a group attempting to enter the premises, highlighting the charged atmosphere surrounding the party's leadership transition.
