The Meteorology Department has issued a forecast indicating the likelihood of showers or thundershowers in several regions of Sri Lanka today.
According to the department, areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts, may experience rainfall after 2.00 p.m. Additionally, parts of the North-western Province, Mannar, and Nuwara-Eliya districts could also witness showers or thundershowers during the evening or night hours.Prior to the anticipated rainfall, misty conditions are expected in certain areas of the Western, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts in the morning. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate potential damages from temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
Moreover, the Meteorology Department highlighted the sun's apparent northward motion, which will position it directly over Sri Lanka's latitudes from April 5th to 15th this year. Today, the sun will be overhead in Balapitiya, Elpitiya, Morawaka, and Tissamaharama around 12.12 p.m.
