The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has formalized its alliance with a faction of the Freedom People’s Congress (Nidahasa Janatha Sabhawa), marking a significant development in opposition politics.
Following months of discussions on electoral strategies and policy frameworks, the SJB and six MPs from Nidahasa Janatha Sabhawa, notably including Prof. G.L. Peiris and Dilan Perera, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the 'Samagi Jana Sandhanaya'. This move underscores a shift in parliamentary dynamics as politicians, formerly associated with the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), opt for an independent stance within the new alliance.
