UNP Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam disclosed in a press briefing yesterday that recent government research indicates over 60 percent of Sri Lankan voters are yet to choose their preferred candidate for the upcoming elections.
Contrary to circulating speculations favoring certain political parties, Kariyawasam dismissed such claims as baseless, asserting that many are merely "living on illusions."Kariyawasam hinted at a potential game-changing strategy orchestrated by incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, drawing parallels to the surprise victory witnessed in the 2015 Presidential election. "There are many things happening behind the scenes," Kariyawasam cautioned, urging against premature judgments based solely on surface observations.Further adding to the intrigue, Kariyawasam disclosed that numerous individuals and parties have pledged their support to President Wickremesinghe, indicating a potential shift in alliances as the election draws nearer.

In addition to these revelations, Kariyawasam announced the UNP's plans to host a May Day procession in front of Tower Hall this year, signaling the party's continued engagement with the electorate amidst the prevailing uncertainty surrounding voter preferences.
