In a bid to bolster the aviation sector, the Sri Lankan Cabinet has greenlit a significant contract for the procurement of four aircraft for the Sri Lankan Aviation Company Limited. The decision, announced by Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardana, follows meticulous evaluation by both the Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) and the Standing Procurement Committee.
The resolution, put forward by the Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Services Minister, outlines the acquisition of two wide-body aircraft under the operational lease scheme. Contracts have been approved for the procurement of two aircraft from Orix Aviation and another two from Aergo Capital Limited. These contracts entail monthly leases of USD 360,000 and USD 365,000 respectively, aimed at enhancing the country's aviation capabilities.
This strategic move reflects the government's commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka's aviation infrastructure and fostering growth in the sector.
With these additions to its fleet, the Sri Lankan Aviation Company is poised to expand its operational capacity, furthering its role in the region's aviation landscape.
