The Cabinet has approved a program to provide free sanitary pads annually starting from April 2024. This initiative aims to benefit 800,000 female students studying in the most remote schools across Sri Lanka. The distribution will encompass 1.2 million female students, including those in isolated, estate, and urban schools attended by economically disadvantaged students. With a total student population of four million in Sri Lanka, this decision is poised to positively impact the health and well-being of thousands of young women in the country.
