Thai Airways flight TG 307 made its touchdown at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at precisely 11:55 p.m. on Monday (01), following a hiatus spanning four years.
The flight, originating from Bangkok, Thailand, brought with it approximately 150 foreign tourists, among them Thai nationals eager to explore the charms of Sri Lanka once again. This significant return marks the resumption of daily flights connecting Thailand and Sri Lanka, according to authorities at Katunayake airport.
Welcoming the flight and its passengers with open arms was Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Ports, Shipping & Aviation, who was present at the arrival terminal to extend his warm greetings.
To add a touch of celebration to the occasion, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. (AASL) organized a special cultural dance performance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka while offering a heartfelt welcome to the flight and its passengers.
Addressing the gathering, Minister de Silva emphasized the surge in tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in the year 2024, highlighting that nearly 800,000 tourists had graced the shores of the island nation via BIA over the past three months alone.
