President Ranil Wickremesinghe, acting as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies, has taken a significant step by appointing an Independent Remuneration Committee.

This committee's primary task is to review the proposed salary hike for employees of the Central Bank.

This decision comes following a recommendation from the Committee on Public Finance (CoPF), which highlighted the necessity for an independent assessment of the Central Bank's salary revisions.
