Supreme Court Challenged with Non-Appointment of Bribery Commission DG

The Commissioner General of Land, Bandula Jayasinghe, has contested an indictment filed by the Bribery Commission, citing the absence of a Director General appointment by the President. During the Supreme Court session, Counsel Hafeel Farisz argued that the current Anti-Corruption Act lacks provisions for a Director General continuation.
The case, involving the Commissioner of Land and others on an alleged illegal car transfer, has been scheduled for June 4, 2024, as the top priority by the Supreme Court.
