Heavy Showers Expected Across Sri Lanka After 2 pm Today

 

The Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre has issued a forecast predicting heavy showers above 100 mm in various provinces of Sri Lanka after 2 p.m. today. According to the division, regions likely to experience these heavy downpours include the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Central Provinces.

Atmospheric conditions are reported to be conducive for afternoon thundershowers across most parts of the island. The Eastern, Uva, and Southern Provinces may experience several spells of showers in the morning, while misty conditions are expected in certain areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts during the morning hours.

In the sea areas, showers are forecasted off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Batticaloa and Hambantota. Additionally, showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo during the afternoon or night.

Winds are predicted to be easterly or variable in direction with speeds of up to 30 kmph, and the sea conditions around the island are expected to be slight to moderate. Residents and travelers are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather forecasts throughout the day.
