Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Myanmar has confirmed that eight Sri Lankans rescued from a cyber slave camp in Myanmar are being readied for repatriation via Thailand. The Thai authorities have issued transit visas for their safe journey back home.

Months ago, News 1st uncovered that 56 Sri Lankan youths were held in an area controlled by an armed group along the Thai-Myanmar border, engaged in cyber crimes. Investigations led to the release of eight, now detained at the Central Police Station in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

The Sri Lankan ambassador stated that investigations are ongoing to determine any criminal involvement, with assurance from Myanmar that legal action won't be taken against them.
However, the journey from Myawaddy to Yangon crosses uncleared areas, prompting repatriation via Thailand. Meanwhile, 18 Sri Lankans remain captive near the Thai border, with 28 more detained approximately 26 kilometers away, enduring severe conditions and reported torture.

Footage captured by an individual who entered the location has surfaced, though not independently verified by News First, depicting the distressing reality of the "slave camp" near the Moi River.
