The Meteorology Department has issued a forecast predicting heavy showers in several regions of the island. According to the department, Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa district, are expected to experience several spells of showers. Additionally, showers or thundershowers are forecasted in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Central provinces during the afternoon or night.
In particular, heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are anticipated in certain areas of the Southern province, as well as in Ampara and Monaragala districts. Misty conditions may also prevail in some areas of Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, along with Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts during the morning hours.
