Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella's daughter has filed a revision bail application on behalf of her father, seeking release from custody. The Colombo High Court, presided over by Judge Sujeewa Nissanka, has scheduled a decision on whether to proceed with the revision application for April 3rd.
Additionally, the court will deliberate on issuing notices to the Attorney General and the Criminal Investigation Department, respondents in the case. During the court session, objections were raised by Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama, citing missing essential documents related to the revision application and requested dismissal. In response, Anuja Premaratne, PC, representing Rambukwella, reiterated his client's innocence, attributing alleged wrongdoings to another individual currently in custody.
The case involves ten individuals, including the former minister, remanded in connection with allegations surrounding the payment of nearly 40 million rupees for counterfeit medicines claiming to be Human Immunoglobulin.
