Former Minister Wimal Werawansa said in Parliament that the Govenrment of Gotahaya Rajapaksa fell out of power after the dismissal of himself and Udaya Gammanpila from the Cabinet.
"The incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe is able to wear his crown because everyone on this side unanimously declared that the former administration was corrupt. Some even formulated an ideology suggesting that this corrupt administration led to the economic crisis," remarked MP Wimal Weerawansa during the parliamentary session.
Weerawansa emphasized the role of the Aragalaya movement, which advocated for a non-corrupt administration to replace the former government. According to the MP, this sentiment was a driving force in propelling President Wickremesinghe to power.
However, Weerawansa did not shy away from addressing the internal dynamics within the current administration, citing the dismissal of both Udaya Gammanpila and himself by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as a pivotal moment that marked the downfall of the previous government.
