National Cricket Selection Committee Chairman, Pramodya Wickramasinghe, is set to make a second appearance today at 2:00 pm before the Sports Offenses Prevention Police Unit, located outside the Sugathadasa Sports Complex in Colombo.
This follows Wickramasinghe's initial appearance on the 21st in response to a complaint lodged by the Ministry of Sports. The complaint was filed concerning statements made by Mr. Pramodya Wickramasinghe in his capacity as the Chairman of the National Cricket Selection Committee. He had suggested that there might be a conspiracy behind the significant underperformance of the Sri Lankan cricket team in the recently-concluded World Cup Cricket Tournament.
The recall for further questioning indicates an escalation in the investigation into the allegations made by Wickramasinghe. The Ministry of Sports seeks clarity on the comments that hinted at potential foul play during the World Cup, leading to Sri Lanka's unexpected setbacks.
Wickramasinghe's statements had created a stir in the cricketing community and sparked debates about the transparency and internal dynamics within the Sri Lankan cricket setup.
