In a fiery speech delivered in Parliament today, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Kabir Hashim accused key figures Basil Rajapaksa, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and PB Jayasundara of misleading the country, branding them as "economic hitmen" responsible for Sri Lanka's financial woes. Hashim's remarks came in Parliament, asserting that the trio played a pivotal role in pushing the nation to the brink of bankruptcy.

"We have repeatedly warned the President about the need to appoint a Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to investigate those who have led Sri Lanka into economic turmoil. Basil Rajapaksa, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and PB Jayasundara have misled the country; they are economic hitmen," declared Hashim in Parliament. The SJB MP expressed disappointment in the President's lack of action, stating, "The President did not have a vertebrae to do that."

However, Hashim extended his gratitude to the judicial system, acknowledging the Supreme Court's recent verdict that held the accused trio accountable for the economic downfall of the country. "We thank the court for having provided a just verdict regarding those who destroyed the country's economy," Hashim remarked.

The accusations against Basil Rajapaksa, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and PB Jayasundara include allegations of mismanagement and deceptive practices that contributed to Sri Lanka's financial crisis.
