In a pivotal development, Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, a member of the Cabinet Sub-committee tasked with addressing the cricket crisis, has affirmed the government's dedication to hosting the 2024 U19 Cricket World Cup as initially planned.

Expressing commitment to collaborating with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the minister aims to navigate the suspension of Sri Lanka Cricket.

The government has expressed regret and condemnation for statements made against the ACC Chairman, ICC officials, and member countries.

Minister Wijesekera highlighted the forthcoming discussions with stakeholders, emphasizing the Cabinet sub-committee's intent to submit comprehensive recommendations and proposals. These will encompass resolutions for the suspension, administrative restructuring, good governance, transparency, accountability, and holistic development of cricket at all levels.
