In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to suspend Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) with immediate effect. This decision comes in response to what the ICC perceives as extensive government interference in the administration of SLC, leading to the dissolution of the country's cricket board.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the ICC Board convened to address the issue and concluded that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a member. The primary concern revolves around the requirement for cricket boards to manage their affairs autonomously, free from government interference in the governance, regulation, and administration of cricket within their respective countries.

"The ICC Board met today and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a Member," stated the ICC in an official statement. "The conditions of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course."
