In a swift and coordinated response, troops from the 2nd (T) Vijayabagu Cavalry Brigade and the 9th (T) Engineering Service Brigade, operating under the 21st Cavalry Brigade and the Vanni Security Force Headquarters, undertook critical operations on Sunday, November 5, to contain water leaks and prevent potential flooding in two key locations: Madavachi Gitavaramkulam and Devanambiyatissapura Pokahaweva Kulam.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the soldiers from the 2nd (T) Vijayabagu Infantry Brigade took immediate action to repair a rupture in the Lower Varamkulam pond by utilizing sandbags effectively, effectively stopping the leakage and mitigating the risk of further damage.
Simultaneously, 11 dedicated members of the 9th (T) Engineering Service Brigade sprang into action, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the community. They efficiently repaired a substantial breach in the Pokahawewa Pond by strategically laying more than 50 sandbags.
This operation was executed under the vigilant supervision of the Commanding Officers of the 2nd (T) Vijayabagu Cavalry Brigade and the 9th (T) Engineering Service Brigade, in coordination with the leadership of the 213 Brigade, and under the guidance of the Commander of the Defense Force Headquarters, Vanni, and the Commander of the 21st Cavalry Brigade.
