Government Medical Officers Association Temporarily Suspends Provincial Strikes

November 03, 2023

The Government Medical Officers Association has decided to temporarily halt the series of strikes that were launched at the provincial level. This decision comes in response to a positive reaction from the government.

Haritha Aluthge, the Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association, announced this temporary suspension of strikes, highlighting the government's encouraging response. The strikes had been initiated at the provincial level to protest against the government's failure to retain doctors in the country, a crucial step to mitigate the challenges faced by the healthcare system.

Today, the strike had been implemented in hospitals across the Northern Province. The objective of these strikes was to draw attention to the urgent need to address the issue of doctor retention within the country.
