Colombo District Court Issues Enjoining Order to Halt Defamatory Content Against Defense Ministry Secretary Kamal Gunaratne

The Colombo District Court has taken decisive action to halt the dissemination of defamatory content against Defense Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne. In response to false and defamatory material published on the webpage "Sri Rawana Lanka Puwath," the court has issued an enjoining order against G. P. Nissanka, restraining him from spreading malicious statements that tarnish the reputation of the plaintiff.

The enjoining order, granted during a hearing related to a compensation claim of Rs. 1 billion against G. P. Nissanka, seeks to curb the dissemination of false and defamatory content published in bad faith.

This court order specifically prohibits G. P. Nissanka from spreading or propagating malicious statements or false and fabricated content aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Defense Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne through the webpage "Sri Rawana Lanka Puwath" or any other program or social media platform. The decision is based on the facts presented by the plaintiff.

President's Counsel Jagath Wickramanayake represented the case, acting under the instructions of Attorney-at-Law Miss. Eranga Pinnaduwa. The legal proceedings in this case are set to continue, with the next hearing scheduled for November 9 at the Colombo District Court.
