Update: Dushmantha Chameera Gets Green Light as Kumara's Replacement in Sri Lanka Squad

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Event Technical Committee has officially approved the inclusion of Dushmantha Chameera in the Sri Lankan squad, replacing Lahiru Kumara.

This decision comes in response to Kumara's unavailability due to a left thigh muscle injury he sustained during training in Pune. As a result, Chameera, an experienced player with 44 ODIs under his belt, was selected as the ideal replacement.

It's important to note that any player's replacement in the squad must gain approval from the Event Technical Committee before being officially added. This process ensures fairness and adherence to tournament regulations.

The Event Technical Committee for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is comprised of notable individuals within the cricketing sphere, including Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket and ETC Chair), Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Hemang Amin (Acting CEO - BCCI), Gaurav Saxena (General Manager – Operations, BCCI), along with independent representatives Russel Arnold and Simon Doull.
