28 Sri Lankan domestic workers who had been residing illegally in Kuwait were successfully deported and repatriated to Sri Lanka. This operation was carried out through the collaborative efforts of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait, local law enforcement, and the judiciary.

The group of Sri Lankan nationals, which included 24 housekeepers and 4 domestic servants, had registered at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait with the intention of returning to their homeland. The embassy, in cooperation with local authorities, ensured their safe return.

The SriLankan Airlines flight UL-230 transported this group from Kuwait to Katunayake Airport, where they arrived at 06:30 on the 27th of October. Among the deportees, there was also one pregnant woman who received special attention to ensure her well-being.

Most of these individuals hailed from the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts of Sri Lanka. Upon their arrival at Katunayake Airport, the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau facilitated their onward transportation to their respective villages.
