Sri Lanka Takes Bold Steps Towards Global Economic Integration with RCEP Agreemen

Sri Lanka is on the path to establishing an economic integration program with ASEAN, Oceania, and East Asia by becoming a member of the world's largest Free Trade Agreement, the "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)" Agreement. The President's Media Division has confirmed these promising strides, emphasizing the government's commitment to global economic integration.

Sri Lanka's engagement in these crucial trade agreement negotiations falls under the capable purview of the Cabinet-appointed National Trade Negotiation Committee (NTNC).

Led by the Chief Negotiator of the Office of International Trade under the Presidential Secretariat, this committee boasts the inclusion of senior-level officers from various government departments and institutions.

The NTNC's efforts are further fortified by eleven subcommittees, each representing relevant ministries and departments, actively facilitating negotiations and stakeholder engagements.

This decision underscores Sri Lanka's dedication to broadening its global economic horizons and fostering collaboration with a broader spectrum of nations.
