In a significant mini-Cabinet reshuffle, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana has been appointed as the new Minister of Health, taking on additional responsibilities alongside his existing role as Minister of Industries. The reshuffle also saw the former Health Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella, assume the role of Minister of Environment, while Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was named as the Non-Cabinet Minister of Plantation Enterprises.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was assigned the Ministry of Plantation.

The decision to reassign ministerial portfolios comes in the wake of a series of allegations and concerns regarding the Health sector, resulting in the removal of Keheliya Rambukwella from the Health Ministry.

Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, who now holds the pivotal position of Minister of Health, brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of healthcare.

Keheliya Rambukwella, the former Health Minister, has been assigned to head the Ministry of Environment, indicating a shift in responsibilities. This change follows allegations and concerns related to the Health sector that have been the subject of public scrutiny. The reshuffle provides an opportunity for fresh leadership to steer the Health Ministry in a new direction.
