Sri Lanka's film industry and business community mourn the loss of veteran film producer and co-founder of Buddhi Batiks, Deshabandu Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena, who passed away this morning at the age of 83, according to family sources.
Dr. Keerthisena, a well-respected figure in the Sri Lankan film industry, left an indelible mark with his contributions to cinema and his entrepreneurial ventures. His significant role in promoting the local film scene earned him recognition and admiration.
His remains will be placed in state at his residence on Lake Drive, Colombo 08, from Wednesday (18) to 9:00 a.m. on Thursday (19). Following this, the remains will be transferred to the Buddhi Batiks workshop in Koswadiya, Mahawewa, where they will be available for public viewing until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (21).
The final rites to bid farewell to the late Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena are scheduled to take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Koswadiya Cemetery, as confirmed by the family sources.
Dr. Keerthisena is survived by his wife, Margaret Ranasiri Keerthisena, and his children, including Darshi Keerthisena and renowned filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena.
