"I Will Continue to Engage in Politics Until I Die": Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa

Former President and SLPP Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said he would continue to do politics until he dies.

However, last week, Rajapaksa stated that he had no intentions of getting back to power and new leaders must emerge.

Addressing reporters outside a temple, Rajapaksa confirmed that he has been engaging in discussions with members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to navigate the party's path forward. The former President, who has played a pivotal role in Sri Lankan politics for an extended period, reiterated his commitment to contributing to the political landscape.

It is noteworthy that Rajapaksa disclosed the SLPP's intention to field a candidate in the upcoming presidential election. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the party has not reached a decision on the specific individual who will represent them in the electoral race.
