Promotions Mark 74th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Army: 314 Officers and 1,565 Other Ranks Ascend to Next Ranks

In commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, a total of 314 officers and 1,565 other ranks have been promoted to their next ranks, effective from today. This significant milestone reflects the dedication and commitment of these military personnel to their service and the nation.

In the Officers' category, promotions encompassed a range of ranks, including:

  • 07 Brigadiers elevated to the rank of Major General.
  • 12 Colonels advanced to the rank of Brigadier.
  • 37 Lieutenant Colonels promoted to the rank of Colonel.
  • 41 Majors ascending to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
  • 50 Captains, including Quarter Masters, promoted to the rank of Major.
  • 84 Lieutenants, including Quarter Masters, rising to the rank of Captain.
  • 83 Second Lieutenants, encompassing Regular Force and Volunteer Force, promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

In the category of Other Ranks, promotions were as follows:

  • 83 Warrant Officers-II advanced to the rank of Warrant Officer-I.
  • 183 Staff Sergeants promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer-II.
  • 263 Sergeants elevated to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
  • 414 Corporals ascended to the rank of Sergeant.
  • 374 Lance Corporals progressed to the rank of Corporal.
  • 248 Privates, comprising both Regular Force and Volunteer Force, promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.
