The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation has announced that the scheduled arrival of a passenger ferry from India's Nagapatnam port to Kankasanthurai (KKS) today has been postponed due to unavoidable technical reasons.
The passenger service, which was eagerly anticipated to commence today, will now be delayed until the vessel's arrival next Thursday. Ministry officials have cited technical issues as the primary reason for this delay, emphasizing the need for ensuring the safety and reliability of the ferry service.
In related news, Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Ports, Navigation, and Aviation Services, has disclosed that the aviation sector has reported a significant profit of 22 billion rupees in the first 8 months of this year. This impressive financial performance underscores the sector's resilience and potential for growth, even in challenging times.
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva also highlighted that a substantial sum of 10 billion rupees has already been contributed to the treasury from the profits generated by the aviation sector. This contribution signifies a valuable source of revenue for the government, especially during a period marked by economic uncertainties.
