In response to the devastating accident that occurred earlier today near the Kollupitiya Liberty Roundabout, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has taken action to provide financial assistance to the affected families. President's Secretary, Saman Ekanayaka, acting on the President's instructions, has directed the Ministry of Transport and the Sri Lanka Transport Board to extend much-needed support to the bereaved families.

The tragic incident unfolded when a tree fell on a bus, resulting in a loss of lives and leaving the community in mourning. In recognition of the profound grief and hardship faced by the victims' families, the government has stepped forward with a gesture of compassion.

Each of the families who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate accident will receive financial assistance amounting to Rs. 500,000. This initiative aims to provide immediate relief and support to the affected families during this difficult time.
