A heated exchange erupted in the Sri Lankan Parliament today as State Minister Diana Gamage lost her temper in response to continuous interruptions during her speech. Gamage delivered a stern message to her fellow lawmakers.
Amid constant disruptions by an MP who repeatedly interrupted her address, Gamage firmly declared, "You shut up and sit down!" Her outburst resonated throughout the parliamentary chamber, silencing the interruptions momentarily.
State Minister Gamage went on to emphasize that she would not tolerate any form of disrespect, especially when it came to female MPs in parliament. "Irrespective of their party, I will protect them. This shouldn't be tolerated," she declared, addressing her fellow lawmakers.
It was evident that her warning was directed at SJB MP Nalin Bandara, who had been the source of the disruptions.
