The Cabinet of Ministers has greenlit the creation of the Sri Lanka University of Education and the elevation of National Colleges of Education to university campuses.

The proposal in this regard was made by the Minister of Education. 

This move aims to enhance teacher training quality in Sri Lanka, offering comprehensive education programs and fostering excellence in the teaching profession.
