International Sports Coordination Committee in Cricket Formed to Safeguard Sri Lanka's Cricket Future

Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe has appointed a three-member International Sports Coordination Committee in Cricket. The committee's mission is to monitor, communicate, and coordinate with international and national cricket councils to ensure the development, independence, and transparency of cricket in Sri Lanka.

The committee will be composed of three distinguished members with extensive experience in Sri Lanka's cricketing landscape. Sidath Wettimuny and Upali Dharmadasa, both well-known figures in Sri Lankan cricket, have been entrusted with leading the committee. Notably, both Wettimuny and Dharmadasa have previously headed the Sri Lanka Cricket governing bodies, bringing a wealth of experience and insights to their new roles.

Rakitha Rajapakshe, the son of Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe, will assume the crucial position of Secretary within the committee.

The formation of this committee comes at a time when Sri Lankan cricket is facing various challenges, including concerns about governance, integrity and transparency. The International Sports Coordination Committee in Cricket is expected to work closely with international cricket bodies and national cricket councils to address these issues and safeguard the future of the sport in the country.
