In a startling turn of events, the victim who recently came under assault at a Cargills Foodcity branch in Borella, Colombo, has come forward with her side of the story. The victim alleges that she was assaulted by Cargills workers for shoplifting, which she admits to, citing poverty as the driving factor behind her actions.
The incident came to light after a video capturing the assault went viral on social media platforms, prompting swift police action. Five Cargills workers involved in the assault were subsequently arrested.
However, the victim's recent revelations have raised serious concerns about potential misconduct within the police force. According to her account, a senior police officer stationed at the Borella police station attempted to manipulate the ongoing investigation in favor of Cargills.
Specifically, the victim claims that this police officer urged her not to identify the individuals who had assaulted her during an upcoming identification parade. Instead, she alleges that the officer offered her a financial settlement from Cargills in exchange for her cooperation.
These allegations cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of the investigation and have led to calls for a thorough and impartial inquiry into the matter.
