The National Audit Office has identified that an outstanding amount of Rs. 38.20 million is owed to the Examination Department by nine government institutions for the administration of corporate examinations.
As of the end of last year (2022), this sum was slated for collection, and the Department of Examinations had formally requested the Treasury to provide guidance on a specific methodology for recovering these expenses from one of the institutions.
Regrettably, the audit report reveals that to date, no response has been received regarding this matter. Furthermore, the audit disclosed that the results of nine examinations were released without the collection of the full fee or an advance payment, despite the institutes in question declaring their responsibility to conduct the examinations and charge the corresponding fees.
Financial Analysts said revelation underscored the need for prompt action to resolve this outstanding financial matter, ensuring the proper allocation of funds within the government's institutions.
