A foreign national woman and her boyfriend found themselves in distress when they were caught by strong waves while enjoying the sea at the perilous Mango Beach in Tangalle on the evening of September 24.
Promptly responding to the emergency, local residents near the beach took swift action to rescue the distressed couple from the turbulent waters. Following their rescue, both individuals were urgently transported to Tangalle Hospital for immediate medical attention.
Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the woman, identified as a 22-year-old Polish citizen, could not be revived and was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
The lifeless body of the young Polish tourist has been transferred to Tangalle Hospital, where it remains under the care of medical authorities. Tangalle Police have initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate tragedy.
