Sri Lanka has received interim payments totaling $890,000 along with Rs. 16 million. These payments are earmarked for the affected fishermen and the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) and have been credited to the national Treasury.

This financial assistance comes as part of ongoing efforts to address the aftermath of the X-Press Pearl vessel disaster, which had severe ecological and economic impacts on Sri Lanka's coastal regions.
The funds will provide crucial support to affected fishermen and contribute to environmental cleanup and conservation efforts led by MEPA.
